After reading this two book series, I'm wondering if it was really worth it. While they were graphic novels, and were easy to read, I still don't enjoy reading, and I found it challenging to pick up the book and read to the point that was required.
But somehow I made it through. After reading I found some possible themes were races and class, survivors guilt, and luck. Races and class is very imminent because of the separation of race and belief in the book, categorized by different animals, Jewish as mice, Nazis as cats, Polish pigs, French frogs, and American dogs. The cat and mouse relationship is a metaphor for the relationship between Nazis and Jews: the Nazis toyed with the Jews before killing them. I wouldn't recommend this book, but then again, I wouldn't recommend any book.
